Singapore flag is of 2:3 ratio, where the flag has two equally sized bars juxtaposed horizontally colored red and white. The flag has a crescent and pentagon positioned stars in the canton area of flag. The red color represents brotherhood and fraternity, white represents peace.Waxing crescent whose edge is towards hoist side of flag represents a young nation on the ascendant. The five stars "stand for the nation's ideals of democracy, peace, progress, justice and equality" the star and crescent symbol came to be recognized as a symbol of Islamism.
